Jesper's bag and sleep thoughts
Had a thought last night which was, that Jesper can sleep outside of the bag he's tied to, but still needs to rest in it periodically so that he can fully recover.
Domestic imps generally need less sleep than a wild, but still nap or sleep. But if they're sleeping outside of their vessel, the sleep will never be as fulfilling, eventually leading to a deficit if not recalled after some time. (I'm thinking a few days.)
So, Jesper gets to enjoy multiple different kind of sleeps. The intimate closeness of Yarrow's bed, or the imp's den, or his own cozy comfort of personal blankets, or the womb-like caress of a fully rested bag-sleep.
I say womb-like, because I'm imagining that when Jesper crawls inside, he's essentially entering and curling up into fetal position. And it's real cozy and comfortable, and the temperature is just right, and it's quiet without being deafeningly silent... But I also kinda think it's just, an abyss. There's nothing to see. There's "walls" that can be felt, but go unseen.
Anything placed inside his bag isn't on the same "plane" that Jesper would enter on. He would not be able to retract any item placed into the bag while in it, only while outside it.
I'm contemplating whether or not someone could join him. I have a feeling no, because he's personally tied to it---Sol would be small enough to go in, but would probably join the "items plane" rather than Jesper's sleepy quarters. If Yarrow looked in, he'd probably only see whatever they'd put in his bag.
I do think if Jesper was needed, you could just, jostle the bag and it would jostle him awake though lol. Also been wondering about if you'd "feel" anything in the bag with Jesper in it. Thought about it holding his entire weight, but then when in it, suddenly the bag would be forty pounds heavier and that's a little nutty...
Was thinking perhaps the weight doesn't change dramatically, but maybe it feels like there's a volleyball occupying it or something. I only say this because I love the image of... maybe just maybe... if Yarrow were to hold it ever so snug, maybe it would snug Jesper a little tighter. Like he likes with his blankets (essentially turning into a weighted blanket...).
That's kind of cute---imagine Yarrow working on his sewing machine, Jesper occupying his bag, Jesper's bag in Yarrow's lap resting against his stomach, it'd be like a weighted blanket for both---slight weight change of Jesper's bag would maybe be comfortable for Yarrow, and the very subtle compression would be comfy for Jesper---and no, I don't think you could squeeze him too hard, just for the sake of, I don't want it to be like you shake him too hard and he's dizzy, throwing up, or squished lmao. It would be less 1:1 like that, and more of, just the compression.
Anyway, that's just a thought. That I think is cute.
