Jesper the Imp Devlog

More little thoughts! (afterlife, Jesper's bag, snow!)

Not sure if I've written about this before, but I've been picturing that when Jesper returns to the bag he's bound to, to rest, that it is very womb-like. Some kind of white noise present, something subtle and low like a brown noise. There's some form of pressure that feels like a hug, makes him want to naturally curl up tight into the fetal position.

Been also considering that only thing Jesper can reasonably carry in his arms can fit inside with him, like a blanket---or Sol! I imagine she's taken back in an instant, unable to keep her eyes open for very long at all under the "pressure". The both of them are unable to talk, and resort to comfortable groans/whines/moans, just happy little noises until Jesper ultimately falls into a deeper sleep. I don't see Sol being overwhelmed and scared, just surprised, and naturally falls asleep not far behind him, curled up closely against him.

Kena would most likely be freaked out... on standby holding Jesper's bag, anxious that Sol will not return, and not sure how long they'll be gone.

Someone I know was going on about DND imps initially coming from Hell, or some form of it, I never really researched it---he was going how DND imps are more focused on physical signed contracts, come from this hell, have memories of it, and are excited to return to it...

My imps are more just, little guys in the woods living their own lives. BUT, this thought did make me consider that they may have a faith that there is a Hell (or something like it) that all imps from all clusters return to one day. Ya know. Nothing farfetched, but I do like to think of these mischievous little guys having hopes that they'll see imps from their bonds who have passed, or old friends that left to form a new cluster, when they die.

It was really snowy today, and it made me think about Jesper being in love with throwing snowballs. I think winter would depress the hell out of him initially, with most of the plants and life going away for the season, but once there's ice and snow to play with, I can see him having a lot of fun. Plus winter holidays and festivals.

I have been toying with the wild imps slowing down in the winter months, though. Not a full hibernation, but just becoming a bit lethargic and lower energy to conserve warmth and, well, energy. They spend a lot more time huddling together, sleeping, or staying by a fire. Kena is a bit grumpier and is heavily relied on to fetch food, so I think it puts a bit of strain on him. Sol is extra sleepy and reaaaaally just wants to be held while she catches up on sleep.

But maybe just maybe they'll have the energy for a snow ball fight... ???
